Market Drayton sits on the River Tern in north Shropshire, close to the Cheshire and Staffordshire borders. It has a town council, and its local authority is Shropshire Council. It got its weekly Wednesday market from Henry III in 1245, and that market is still held every Wednesday, with the Buttercross at its centre.
I’m Lee, and LMS Heating Solutions is me. I’m Gas Safe registered and based in Telford, and I’m the one who picks up the phone, comes out and does the work.
Rebuilt after the fire of 1651
Drayton had its own great fire in 1651, fifteen years before the Great Fire of London, and most of the town’s half-timbered buildings were lost. What followed is still easy to spot: the town council describes many fine brick houses from the Stuart, Georgian and Victorian periods. In 1835 the canal that’s now the Shropshire Union was cut past the town, through red sandstone at Tyrley Locks. Gingerbread was first recorded being baked here in 1793.
With homes ranging from centuries-old brick to recent builds, I don’t assume what’s behind the boiler cupboard door. I check the gas supply, the flue route and the controls before recommending anything, and you get a fixed price before any work starts.
I fit and fix mains gas boilers, and I’ll be straight about it
My Gas Safe registration covers domestic natural gas, so I work on mains gas boilers and appliances only. That matters round here. In the 2021 Census, about seven in ten households in Market Drayton’s two town wards had mains gas as their only heating. In the rural Hodnet and Cheswardine wards it was only about one in eight and one in four, and oil was the most common single heating type in both.
If your home runs on oil or bottled gas, I’m not the right engineer for your boiler, and I’ll tell you that on the first call rather than book a visit that can’t help you.
Villages around Market Drayton
As well as the town, TF9 takes in villages such as Adderley, Norton in Hales, Woodseaves, Hinstock, Child’s Ercall, Cheswardine and Hodnet, and it crosses into Staffordshire at Loggerheads and Ashley. If you’re on mains gas in or around Market Drayton, send me your postcode and I’ll tell you honestly whether I can get to you.
What I can do for you in Market Drayton
- New boiler installation: Baxi, Worcester Bosch, Vaillant or Ideal, chosen to suit your home. I register every boiler for its manufacturer’s warranty.
- Boiler servicing: a yearly check of a domestic natural gas boiler, whoever fitted it.
- Boiler repairs: I find the fault, explain it in plain English and give you a fixed price before I start.
- Power flushing: for systems with sludge, cold spots or noisy radiators, and only when the signs point to it.
- Landlord gas safety checks (CP12): see below.
Landlord gas safety certificates in Market Drayton
If you rent out a home, the law says the gas appliances and flues you provide for your tenants must be safety checked at least every 12 months by a Gas Safe registered engineer. I carry out landlord gas safety checks on domestic natural gas appliances in rented homes in Telford and Shropshire, and give you the Landlord Gas Safety Record (often called a CP12).
A landlord gas safety check and certificate costs £80 for one gas appliance, and £10 for each extra appliance. Tell me the postcode and which gas appliances are in the property, and I’ll book the check in.
Who you’re letting into your Market Drayton home

- You get Lee: the same engineer for the call, the quote and the work.
- Family-run: I’m on the tools, my wife keeps the paperwork in order.
- It’s always a fixed price. If there are ever any changes due to unforeseen circumstances, I’ll discuss them with you before any work takes place.

Market Drayton boiler questions
Is Market Drayton too far from Telford for you?
No. Market Drayton is part of the TF postcode area I cover. Call or WhatsApp me with your postcode and what’s wrong, and I’ll give you a time I can actually keep.
My village has oil heating. Can you service my boiler?
No, sorry. I only work on mains gas. If you’re not sure what you’ve got, a gas meter and a gas supplier on your bills mean mains gas. An oil tank in the garden means oil.
I let a house in Market Drayton. What do I need each year?
A gas safety check of the gas appliances and flues you provide, by a Gas Safe registered engineer, at least every 12 months. You get a Landlord Gas Safety Record (CP12). The details and price are in the landlord section on this page.

I also cover Newport (TF10), Wellington (TF1), Donnington and Muxton (TF2). You can see every TF area on areas I cover, or find out more about me.
